Terms of Use

Last updated: June 12, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Bookworthy ("Bookworthy," "we," "us") covering your use of the Bookworthy Shopify app and bookworthy.com (together, the "Service"). By installing the app or using the site, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Bookworthy turns your Shopify store into a self-publishing house: you upload a manuscript and cover, set your price, and each copy is printed and shipped on demand when it sells. The Service is currently pre-launch; features may change before and after general availability.

2. Your account

You access Bookworthy through your Shopify store and are responsible for that store, for the accuracy of the information you provide (including ISBN and publisher details), and for complying with Shopify's own terms and the laws that apply to your business.

3. Your content stays yours

You keep all ownership and copyright in the manuscripts, covers, and other content you upload ("Your Content"). You grant Bookworthy a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content and to print, bind, and ship copies of it — to provide the Service (including file checks, previews, fulfillment, and support). You also grant us permission to feature your published titles — title, cover, description, and store link — in Bookworthy's own marketing and communications; you can opt out at any time by emailing support@bookworthy.com. This license ends when you delete the content or uninstall the app, except for copies already in production and records we must keep by law.

4. Your promises about Your Content

You represent and warrant that you own or control all rights in Your Content (including text, images, fonts, and cover art), that the publisher and ISBN information you provide is accurate, and that nothing you upload infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights, or is unlawful.

5. Content removal — our discretion

We may remove, suspend, unpublish, or decline to print any title or content at any time, for any reason or for no reason, with or without notice, at our sole discretion. This includes (but is not limited to) content we believe may be unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, or harmful, content our print partners decline to produce, and content that is the subject of a complaint. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and work with you toward reinstatement, but we are not obligated to host or print any particular work.

6. Intellectual-property complaints

If someone submits an intellectual-property complaint about a title — through our complaint form at bookworthy.com/iprc or otherwise — we may remove or suspend the title while we review the complaint, and we may remove it permanently. Accounts that repeatedly publish infringing material will be terminated. If your title was removed in response to a complaint and you believe the complaint is mistaken or fraudulent, contact us at support@bookworthy.com with the title, the complaint reference, and the basis of your rights; we review counter-statements in good faith.

7. Fees and payment

The app is free to install with no monthly fee. When a copy of your book sells (or you order author copies), you pay the published print and shipping cost for that order, plus any fees shown to you at the time. You authorize us to charge these amounts through the payment method on file. You are responsible for the retail prices you set and for any taxes on your sales.

8. Printing and fulfillment

Copies are printed on demand and shipped to the address on the order. We will reprint or refund copies with verified print defects; reader-facing sales, returns, and customer service for your store remain between you and your customers.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bookworthy will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or revenues. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid Bookworthy in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify Bookworthy against claims arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms, including intellectual-property claims by third parties.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms or risk to the Service. Sections 3–6 and 9–13 survive termination.

13. Changes; governing law; contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and continued use after changes means acceptance. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions: support@bookworthy.com.
