Selling your own book shouldn’t mean a marketplace or a middleman
Until now, self-publishing meant picking your compromise. Publish on a giant marketplace like Amazon KDP and your book lives on their platform, under their rules — Amazon owns the customer, the email address, and the relationship. Or go boutique with services like BookBaby and Lulu, where setup packages and per-copy print costs quickly eat the margin on every sale.
Either way, the person who did all the work — you — ends up renting shelf space in someone else’s store.
Bookworthy is the first truly self-publishing app built for store owners — print-on-demand publishing inside the store you already own. Your book, your brand, your customer list, your content, your margin — with Bookworthy quietly handling the printing in the background. Upload today and you could be selling tomorrow.

Sell — we print & ship
Every order is printed on demand and shipped straight to your reader, domestic or international. You stay the publisher of record; we’re the press in the back room.
Built for authors who think like owners
Everything a marketplace takes away, your own store gives back.
Own your readers
Every buyer’s name, email, and order history lives in your store — not Amazon’s. Build the mailing list marketplaces will never hand you.
Keep your margins
You set the retail price and pay only the print cost. No royalty tables, no platform cut deciding what your work is worth.
Every format
Paperback, hardcover, and full-color interiors in standard trim sizes — printed one copy at a time.
Author copies at cost
Order proofs, event stock, and signing copies at print cost, shipped to your door in a few clicks.
Zero inventory, ever
Nothing is printed until it’s sold. No garage full of boxes, no money tied up in stock.
Worldwide by default
International orders ship as easily as domestic ones — same upload, same flow, global reach.
One book or a catalog
Publish as many or as few titles as you want. No per-title fees, no minimum print runs.
The whole Shopify toolbox
Discount codes, bundles, email marketing, analytics, upsells, and thousands of apps — your book business gets all of it.
Sell like a store, not a listing
When the sale happens on your own site, every marketing channel works harder:
- Launch with preorders. Collect orders before launch day and let print-on-demand fulfill them all at once.
- Bundle and upsell. Signed editions, companion workbooks, book + merch bundles — impossible on a marketplace, two clicks in Shopify.
- Grow a reader list. Every checkout adds to an email list you own. Announce book two to the people who bought book one.
- Reward superfans. Discount codes for your newsletter, podcast listeners, or speaking events — and you see exactly what converts.
- Send every link home. Social bios, QR codes at events, podcast show notes — all pointing to a product page you control completely.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bookworthy really free?
Yes. The Shopify app is free to install and has no monthly fee. You only pay the print and shipping cost of each book when a copy actually sells — you set the retail price and keep the rest.
How much does it cost to print a book?
Exact print pricing will be published at launch — expect affordable per-copy costs across paperback, hardcover, and full color, with no setup fees and no minimums. You set your own retail price and keep the margin.
How fast can I start selling?
Within a day. Install the free app, upload your manuscript and cover, set your price, and publish — a motivated author can technically have their book live and selling in their own store the same day, while owning and controlling the content the entire way.
What book formats can I sell?
Paperback and hardcover, with black-and-white or full-color interiors, in standard trim sizes — printed one copy at a time as orders come in.
Do I need to hold inventory?
No. Every order is printed on demand and shipped directly to your reader. Your inventory stays at zero and nothing is printed until it is sold.
Can my readers order internationally?
Yes — international orders flow through the exact same process as domestic ones. Your book ships worldwide without you doing anything differently.
What about ISBNs?
Bookworthy guides you through buying your own ISBN, so you — not a platform — remain the publisher of record for your book.
How is this different from Amazon KDP, Lulu, or BookBaby?
Those platforms put a marketplace or a service company between you and your readers. With Bookworthy, the sale happens in your own Shopify store: you own the customer relationship, the email list, the pricing, and the brand. Many authors use Bookworthy as their direct channel alongside marketplaces.
How many books can I publish?
As many or as few as you want — one memoir or an entire catalog. There is no per-title fee.
When does Bookworthy launch?
