# Privacy Statement

_Last updated: June 12, 2026_

This statement explains what Bookworthy ("we," "us") collects, why, and what we do with it, across the Bookworthy Shopify app and bookworthy.com.

## What we collect

**From merchants (authors and store owners).** When you install the app we receive your shop domain and store contact details from Shopify, plus what you give us in the app: your books' files (manuscripts, covers), titles, ISBNs, pricing, and settings.

**From your readers — only to fulfill orders.** When a copy of your book sells, we process the order details needed to print and ship it: the reader's name, shipping address, and the items ordered. We act here as a processor for your store; readers are your customers, not ours, and we use their information for fulfillment only — never for marketing.

**From visitors to bookworthy.com.** If you join the launch list we store your email address. Our servers keep standard request logs, and we count visits from AI crawlers by user-agent in aggregate. The site sets no advertising trackers; cookies are used only for signed-in sessions.

## How we use information

**To provide the Service.** Storing and checking your files, creating products in your store, printing and shipping orders, charging the print costs and fees you've agreed to, and supporting you. We do not use your manuscripts for anything except providing the Service, and your readers' order data is used for fulfillment only — never for marketing or advertising.

**Merchant marketing, research, and advertising.** If you are a merchant, we also use your account information and details about your publications (titles, formats, categories, store links, and how you use Bookworthy) to: tell you about Bookworthy features, offers, and news; research the self-publishing market and improve the Service; showcase published titles in Bookworthy's own marketing; and advertise — including sharing limited contact information (such as a hashed email address) with advertising platforms to reach our merchants or audiences similar to them. You can opt out of marketing emails, title showcasing, or ad-audience sharing at any time by emailing support@bookworthy.com.

We do not sell personal information for money, and reader data is never used for marketing.

## Who we share it with

Only the providers needed to run the Service: our print and fulfillment partner (to print and ship orders), Shopify (the platform the app runs on), our hosting and storage providers, our payment processor, and our email provider. Each receives only what its role requires. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

## Retention

Book files and account data are kept while your account is active. If you uninstall, we delete shop data in line with Shopify's data-removal requirements; order records are kept as long as bookkeeping and tax law require. Launch-list emails are kept until you unsubscribe.

## Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Merchants can exercise these through Shopify's standard data-request and redaction processes, which we honor automatically, or by emailing us. Readers should contact the store they bought from first — we support the store's compliance. Reach us any time at support@bookworthy.com.

## Security

Files and data are stored with reputable cloud providers, encrypted in transit, with access limited to what operating the Service requires. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users of any breach as the law requires.

## Children

The Service is for business use and not directed to children under 13; we do not knowingly collect their information.

## Changes and contact

We may update this statement; changes appear on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Questions or requests: support@bookworthy.com.
